my state of mind lately.

As I mentioned, things have been busy lately.  I got a little overwhelmed and mentally/physically exhausted.  I haven't had any "me" time and any rest.

Also, lately I have been struggling for the first time with our move to SF.  I still love the city and I am happy here, but it has been gloomy lately and it is hard adjust.  I see all my friends enjoying BBQs, the beach, heat, summer dresses, etc and I miss it.  Mostly I miss the generally festive atmosphere that comes with summer weather.

I know I have no right to complain and I am really not, but this is also my first time working full time in the summer.  I do love my job, but it is an adjustment to have so little time for yourself and to do stupid things like laundry.  Welcome to adulthood!

The combination of moving to SF, moving in with Russ, working full time, etc. has all started to wear on me lately and I was feeling a little down.

I knew that I needed some time to get some peace and relax.  This weekend was just that so not to worry, I am feeling like me again.  I just wanted to explain why I wasn't posting and where my head has been.

wedding weekend in Sonoma

As you guys know I have been MIA!  Last weekend we went to Sonoma for a wedding and had some friends visiting.  It was busy, but so much fun!

When we got to Sonoma on Friday we went to a brewery and did some beer tasting

The beer was good, but we had the worst waitress.  She would just walk away while we were talking to her (among other strange behaviors)

Luckily we had good service at dinner.  This is my new favorite drink- champagne with a splash of St. Germaine! yum!

Lindsay, me and the boys went wine tasting before the wedding

We tasted port from this little port sipper! Never seen such a thing before, but it was fun!

The winery had a big "yard."  Lindsay and I lounged while the guys played horseshoes and boche ball.

This is the second winery we went to (and my future home!) haha isn't it gorgeous?!

We also stopped at a farm stand and I got some awesome lemons, tomatoes, peaches and plums!

The wedding ceremony was outside and the reception was in a cool wine room, lined floor to ceiling with wine barrels.

The bride made this cool wall for everyone to pose in.

How cool is this room!?
Sunday we had brunch and yet again had awful service.  We had this strange old man waiter that acted like he was on something.  Very bizzare.  I don't think Sonomians like us!

When we got back to the city it was actually sunny so we went to Golden Gate Park with friends and the dogs and played frisbee golf.  Kind of a slow, boring game if you ask me, but the park was pretty and the girls love to run!

We had a big group dinner with 15 of our friends on Monday night and Cory and Lindsay stayed with us.  It was SOO great to see them and catch up.  We went from seeing them almost daily to not at all for 6 months.  Luckily we will see them in 3 weeks for another wedding and then a week after that in Montana!

As many of you know, I am a HUGE pizza fan.  Russ and I have deemed ourselves "pizza monsters."  We probably eat pizza once a week.  We eat everything from fancy restaurant, to frozen, to homemade pizza.

I used to live next to a TJ's so we always bought their pre-made crust.  Now that we don't live near one, I have been delving into the world of making crust from scratch.

I've made it a few times and it is always good, but never great...until now!

I put one packet of yeast, a tablespoon of sugar, a tablespoon of honey and 1 cup of warm water in a bowl.  Mix it up and let it sit for a while.  Wait until it rises up and looks like an elementary science experiment.  Trust me! Wait! It makes alll the difference.

Then put 2.5 cups of flour a dash of salt in a bowl.  I used my kitchen aid mixer with the dough hook (which makes this process very easy). Pour the water/yeast mixture into the bowl. Mix it for a bit then add 2 tablespoons of olive oil.  Turn the dough hook mixer back on, pour a glass of wine and relax.

I let this got for 10-20 minutes until it was well done.

Take the dough out, wrap it in plastic wrap and put it in the fridge overnight (you don't have to wait this long.  an hour would do, but thats what I did and i will never deviate again since it was so good)

I cook the crust on 500 degrees until it is starting to brown, then top it and put it back in.

Look at this deliciousness...

We had extra dough so I made it into cheese bread sticks.  Next time I will split the dough and save half for later.

high school throwback

This weekend me and 3 of my best girlfriends from high school are having a reunion in SF.  We are going out to Sonoma to go wine tasting and I cannot wait to see them.  The last time we all took a trip together was 2 years ago when we went wine tasting in Monterey.

me, Shiran, Jaclyn, Jess and Christina back at home for summer in college (sorry this is blurry, it was an old crappy photo)

Since it is a high school reunion, I thought I would share some throwbacks from high school.  I am one of those few bizarre people who truly loved high school.  I had great friends and a lot of good memories.  Here are some!

me and Brian at senior prom

me and Elex at graduation

me Brian and Jess (we were an inseparable trio).  This was 80's day.  Our school had OCR (on campus radio) every Thursday where they would play music at lunch.  Many of these turned themed where people would dress up and have dance parties at lunch.  Need I say more as to why i loved high school?
