strawberry cobbler

I have to drive to Eureka for work today (5 hours EACH WAY- almost to Oregon).  Needless to say I won't be at my computer to comment on your lovely blogs or reply to your emails.  Sorry if I get a little behind.  I promise that if I follow you, I read your blog every day, even if I don't comment.  Love you ladies!

And with that, I leave you with some yummies!

Last week I had to go to Sacramento for work.  The drive for SF to Sac is pretty open with lots of farms.  The upside of this is that there are lots of farm stands with yummy fresh-picked local produce.  On my way back, I stopped and got tomatoes, strawberries and cherries!

I bought some bread, basil and mozzarella to go with fresh tomatoes!

The strawberries were already ripe when I bought them and they got a little too soft for me so I decided to make a mini-cobbler with them.  Start by putting the berries in a greased, oven-safe dish

Then I mixed one cup of flour, one cup of sugar and 1 stick of melted butter together to make the crust.  I had WAY too much for a little dish so you can always cut it down.

Put the crush on top of the strawberries

Bake at 350 till it looks delish.  I didn't quite expect it to bubble over like this.  I think I left it in too long, but it tasted amazing.

the rest of my weekend...

As you know, I was a lazy bum on Friday night and Saturday morning I ran my fist 5K.  After that Russ took me to breakfast to celebrate.  I was too hungry to take pics, but it was amazing!!

I spent the rest of Saturday relaxing and I treated my running feet to a pedicure!

Then I spent the rest of the afternoon with Jane Austen.

Saturday night we got dinner and drinks with friends, but I didn't take pictures (I know, I know...Im sorry).

Sunday we took the girls to the beach and I took tons of pictures!

The girls made a lot of friends at the beach today

We had to cross a little river

They did surprisingly well!

5K?... Check!!

I DID IT! I survived!...barely. haha no really, it was actually really hard.

The race was the SF Pride Run.  This weekend is gay pride weekend here.  I wasn't sure what the atmosphere would be like, but everyone was SUPER friendly and excited to participate.  It made my first run experience that much more fun.  Russ came and carried my purse and took pics (he is great isn't he?).

What was hard about the race was that the entire second mile was a hill (i kid not).  I only ran outside when I did C25K and given that it is San Francisco, I did run on hills, but I have never run uphill for so long before.  It definitely hurt my time a little, but it was most important to me just to finish the whole thing without walking, which I did.

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your sweet emails and well-wishes.  It really helped.  I know 3 miles isn't a lot to some people, but it was a lot to me.  When I first started, I never thought I would be able to finish.  It makes me feel really good to do something I didn't think I was capable of.

It just goes to show that you really can do anything you set your mind to when you have a wealth of good friends to support you along the way!

It was kind of cold so I wore long sleeves.  By the end of the first km, I wanted to kill myself for doing that.  I was SOO hot I could barely breath.

Instead of tee-shirts they gave shorts.  I loved them and it was nice to get something other than another tee-shirt!

Russ caught my tired bum crossing the finish line!

Happy Friday!

I think this will come as a big shock to many of you,
but I am planning on having a "girls night" with B&B on the couch tonight!

I actually have a good excuse this time though...
tomorrow morning I am running my 5k!
I am SO excited/nervous! Think fast thoughts for me!

Have a great weekend!

London on the brain

Happy First Day of Summer!

London in the summer is one of my favorite places.  The first time I went to London was when I was studying abroad in France.  My best friend, Shelby, was studying in Ireland so we met up in London.

I fell in love quickly, but it was just a short weekend trip so I knew I'd be back!

Then, the next summer I went to Belgium, England, Ireland and Scotland with my dad.  Needless to say all of those countries are amazing, but I was still partial to London.  We also didn't spend too much time there and since it was my dad's first time, we did a lot of the same tourist attractions that I had seen with Shelby (sadly I do not have any pictures from this because I lost them all in an unfortunate computer crash without back up incident....i know, i know).

Finally, the next summer when I was in law school, I had the opportunity to take summer school in London.  I jumped on it!  I spent 2 blissful months exploring London with my friend Shannon.  We also got to go to Brighton and Cambridge.  In Cambridge we went "punting" which is where you go on a boat that is pushed around by a guy with a giant pole thingy. We missed the memo that you are supposed to be drunk when you do this, but regardless we had the BEST time!  We also went dancing, had tea, picniced in the park, ate pub food, saw Billy Elliot, shopped at Harrods, the works!  London is one of my all time favorite cities and it is still on my wish list to live there someday!

This is us in Brighton.

Probably the best picture ever.  Mostly because it was completely unplanned to have Harrods in the background like that!

Do you have a favorite city?

surprise weekend

Friday night I came home and Russ and I made margs and had pizza.  I had to get up SUPER early Saturday morning so this was a good way to celebrate Friday and relax too.

and the delicous final product!

heaven in a box

the epitome of all of my Friday nights...

Saturday I had to get up early because I was flying to LA to surprise my dad for father's day.  My brother drove up from San Diego and got me from the airport and we showed up at my dad's door! He was totally shocked.  He is an awesome dad and well worth the effort.
Within the first 30 minutes of being home, my dad's little pup Jakey broke his toenail off and had to go to the vet! Poor lil guy

He didn't like his cast and kept shaking his foot.
We spent the rest of the day Saturday hanging out and shopping.  We also got some amazing gelato.

this place did a mini trio so its a small ice cream, but you get to try 3 flavors=heaven.  I got mint chocolate, 3 vanilla, and coffee w sea salt and carmel.
Saturday night we went to a fancy steak dinner and had some amazing mac n cheese.  No pictures because I felt weird taking them in a nice restaurant (sorry guys, but it's the truth).  Sunday morning we had a yummy breakfast and hung out until I had to fly back.

I was NOT ready to return, but luckily I had seeing Russ and the girls to look forward to.  In fact, Russ' parents were visiting our place in the city for father's day so I got to have a delicious pizza and wine dinner with them (sensing a theme here?!  yes my weekends revolve around food, often pizza!)

How was your weekend?!
